Tuesday found us down on the Cyclepath in Goldenacre working with the Council’s Biodiversity Officer to remove tree guards, crown lift and thin out one of the city’s Millennium Woodland sites. The award for ‘Best find in the Undergrowth’ goes to Dave for the Playboy eggcup! Classy.
Wednesday we arrived en masse at the River Almond where we set about removing a rotten handrail from a set of steps which we will replace next week. We also tackled a stand of Japanese Knotweed which we’ll look forward to burning next week. The award for best celebrity look-a-like goes to Newton for his ‘Lady Gaga’!
Thursday we were back at Blackford Pond where we edged ever closer to the magic figure of 90 paving slabs laid and 18 benches secured in place. We also trimmed back even more laurel hedging and thinned out some self seeded saplings to improve the view of the pond from the pathway. The work made a real impact and many members of the public thanked us for our hard work. The Sheer Persistence award goes to Pam and Pat for their steadfast refusal to stop laying paving stones.
A great week and a massive thank you for everyone’s contribution.
