It really is a problem when trying to enjoy a cup of tea in the rain. it becomes a never ending cup filled with cold rain water – maybe beakers are the way to go! So despite the constant rain the Renfrewshire lot have been out and very busy. The all day event was spent out at Greenock clearing vegetation for a wildflower area. It rained pretty much all day but volunteer spirits were high. The highlight had to have been at the end of the day when volunteers hosed each other down. Well we couldnt really get any wetter and at least we got rid of the mud!
The Linwood Green Gym have been working really hard at the Linwood Community Garden which was in need of some TLC. The large raised bed has been cleared and will become our veggie patch. Plants were transplanted elsewhere and many shurbs were pruned to keep them healthly. We have also cleared the back woodland area which had become a dumping ground. First on the list for the New Year is to construct a proper compost bin…
The rest of the sessions have been spent planting spring bulbs, cutting back vegetation, planting trees, painting and building sensory raised beds. All in a days work here at Renfrewshire.
