During the last week we travelled – a short distance – to Stirling High School to complete a garden project initiated by the School’s Eco team in collaboration with Torbrex Community Council. The project was to take into consideration the needs of wheelchair users.
Apart from helping to construct a polytunnel our team of volunteers built two large planter boxes – the height being at least 24 ” to aid someone seated in a wheelchair – and a path (between boxes) roughly five feet wide to create the turning radious of a wheelchair. The main feature within the centre of the path was the construction of elegant circular paving to compliment the attractive formal area. Thanks to our team of volunteers and to Alyson (Hunter) our Project Leader who ably cut the paving slabs to the required measurements. Big thank you also, to Murray Dickie, Secretary of Torbrex Community Council who enthusiastically shared his skills in slab laying with the group.
