The West Glasgow volunteers have been busy during October. Work has continued at St Andrews Church memorial garden project. Broken slabs have been removed, flower beds dug out, weeding and raking up all the autumn leaves – seems to be a never ending task. The group also worked hard to complete a mini makeover project at Invercanny church.
In just a few hours the volunteers created two new flower beds, planted them up and spread bark chip to try and keep the weeds at bay. The church were delighted with the result and hopefully there will be some additional colour as the spring bulbs come up.
Then the group assisted the Clean Glasgow campaign with some local staff from Glasgow City Council. There is a problem with litter and fly tipping at the side of the Garscadden Woodland.
The volunteers got stuck in and removed over 20 bags of litter, and a lot rubble. Think the most interested items found included a santa costume, a trainer, a sleeping bag and of course a cuddly toy!
