Ello,
Ooo, this is a first for me, never blogged before! Well, after 6 bonkers days of planning, I’ve started the third and final Get Started In The Environment course with the Princes Trust. They’ve recruited 11 NEET volunteers aged between 16-25, and three days a week for five weeks, we take them out and sprinkle some BTCV magic on them.
Activities lined up include tidying up schools sensory garden, taking tree cuttings and growing them on, learning how to ID birds, lichens, fungi and trees, wild food foraging, safe fire lighting, the list goes on. It’s a very varied, exciting programme – designed to keep the group stimulated, interested and most importantly of all, well behaved!
Just back from the first day at Mugdock Country Park – an ice breaker day. We did some orienteering around the park and the group bonded really well. All boys this time around, which is a shame as we’ve had girls in the last two groups.
Off to a school tomorrow to do up their sad looking garden, and an allotment on Thursday to plant bulbs and make bird boxes, bee homes and plant bulbs.
Will keep you updated as and when! That wasn’t so bad was it?
Heidi
