Here we are again, back at Hopetoun House on tuesday, and doing the fun and exciting job of rhododendron wrangling with ex-VO and now seasonal ranger Gemma, and ranger Peter. Well, what to say about this fairly familiar and well loved place? Well the rain was nice…
We had a rather exciting new project on the wednesday at Collington Primary School. The school is right next to two army barracks and so is attended by a large proportion of children from army families. Because of the approaching deployment to Afganistan, they have decided to develop the greenspace outside the school with all the parents to bring families together before they have to leave. We were lucky enough to be invited to help them and so we spent wednesday making a path and clearing the flowerbeds of stone ready for the new planting.
Thursday was a rather busy day at the Royal Edinburgh Hospital with Chris off with a corporate group doing the allotments, while the midweek group were in the orchard. It was lovely and sunny all day and there was a bit of excitment when Pat got stung by a hornet and his arm swelled right up. In true Pat fashion however, he kept right on working.
