Thursday found us at the Black Isle show-the region’s premier agricultural county show. Our bijou gazebo sat quietly between the Orkney Ice Cream company and Bruadar liqueur stand. We began our shift in style with an ice cream from our neighbours. Yum! Jenny and Mack were in situ when the three of us- Emily, me & Karen-rolled up. The stone supply was dwindling rapidly- the local kids had enjoyed painting said stones all morning and also the supply of pipe-cleaners was running out. The dragonflies and stick insects they had created were hanging resplendently from the struts of the gazebo. We drew a good crowd throughout the day and lots of information was given out. Several people seemed interested in joining the Green gym. One woman had been a volunteer in 1960 with our previous incarnation CVS.She regaled me with tales of days gone by and sounded very keen to re-join us now.Let’s hope she does. The weather, always important for such occasions, was glorious. We’re off to the DIngwall street fair on Saturday. Hope to see you there…
