Hellooooo everyone,
No doubt you will have read the article in one of the supplements of a very well known Scottish newspaper this weekend extolling the virtues of BTCV’s very own Green Gyms. We all know that it helps with the immune and cardiac system, but did you know JUST HOW MUCH FUN IT IS?
Look at the joy on these folk’s faces early on a Monday morning, throwing their arms in the air and proudly affirming, “Yeah, BTCV!” This has absolutely nothing to do with extra choccie biscuits sweetly offered by myself. I am absolutely certain that Pete, Ross, Garry, Alan, Stuart, Marje and Isabel would have spontaneously thrown their arms in the air at that very moment regardless of what was on offer for tea break. Seriously, folks, doesn’t it make you want to come play with us? We have an exciting new programme lined up – take a look Aberdeen Green Gym volunteering opportunities and come join the fun (and enjoy some of that health benefit stuff that the docs are talking about).
On a sadder note, it is time to say goodbye to an old friend – the BTCV Aberdeen Landrover/Ark is facing retirement. The Green Gymers and I said a fond farewell today on our outing to Portlethen Moss to Old Faithful, as we await the arrival of a minibus at the end of the week.
Oh, how I will miss having to hold the indicators down when turning corners, and how the Landy endearingly pulls to one side with a full crew as we hurtle down the dual carriageway. Not forgetting the grace with which it changes (crunches) through the gears when I plead with it, and how I will miss the adrenaline rush when the Ark stalls on Union Street in rush hour, surrounded by very considerate motorists waiting patiently for me to be on my merry way. As you can see, I was very upset to say goodbye…Altogether now,
“We had joy, we had fun, we had seasons in the sun…”
Have a good week, everyone.
