Today’s rather small BTCV Volunteer/ Project Scotland group was joined by two new volunteers – Richie and Victor – and the usual crew – me , Alfie and Craig as we set of to Pollock Country Park .There we were working in a wildlife Garden within the Park itself strimming and preparing an area where a pond expansion is about to be created , those of us that had wellies – me to begin with ! – had to enter the pond , which was normal at first…. until it turned into a mud bath of which had to be purged of all the nasty smelly mud and the slates and rocks that lined the bottom of the pond structure. During the draining of the pond we encountered three different aquatic species – Toads , Frogs and Newts. Everyone worked hard -which is what should happen although there are sometimes some deviations from the task in hand ….. All said and done our time at Pollock Country Park is not over yet , which is not really a bad thing to be honest , being amongst the wildlife garden and finding aquatic species or indeed the rather abrupt mooing of the cows or the neighing of the horses makes a change from the side of a burn in Drumchappel or the fly infested Brandyburn ( sorry it had to be mentioned at some point) A good days work done …. lets see what tomorrow brings
