The TCV volunteers have joined forces with Sustrans and their wonderful Wildlife Champions and local volunteers to help plant over 1,600 hedgerow trees…phew!!!
The hedgerow now sits beautifully running alongside the NCN768, linking Alva and Tillicoultry.
This is a brilliant cycle path and it’s well worth a visit…and a chance to check out our handy work!
Over all 2,500 hedgerows trees have been planted here. Species of trees included; hawthorn, hazel, blackthorn and dog rose.
Hedgerows are very a important part of the countryside and are integral for biodiversity an helping create habitat corridors for different animals and insects.
If you are interested in helping http://www.tcv.org.uk/volunteering or Sustrans claim back our green spaces and help create homes for amazing scottish wildlife please get in touch! We would love to hear from you or have you join or fantastic teams of volunteers!
