Today we had for mission to mend the greenhouse in St Benedict’s Primary School in Easterhouse. The greenhouse made out of recycled plastic bottles and bamboo sticks had been vandalized and needed repairing.
The primary school converted a wide area into a garden, which really looks welcoming and attractive. It has a wooded obstacle course, willow art structures, several well-tendered raised beds, a compost heap and an outdoor seating area made with tree stumps.
The team of nine people set off in its usual good spirit. We were not discouraged to find out that two walls and the roof had been dismantled. We started off with the roof which was the main priority. It was just a matter to measure the length of the sticks needed, threading them through the bottles, removing the old staples and putting new ones in.
As most of us was familiar with this type of greenhouse the job was completed in next to no time and the result was very satisfying. We are now wishing the best to the young gardeners!
