On Wednesday (29th of October) we spent a very chilly day at the beautiful Bridge of Weir making a viewing platform.
The new platform replaces the existing one that was very badly damaged due to vandalism and weathering. It sits next to the river and has fantastic views of the turbulent waters and autumn colours.
After picking up 6 volunteers we headed to Bridge of Weir to start. The site had been worked on previously in the week so it was fantastic being able to crack on with the job.
The days task was to insert the main posts for the platform which involved digging some very deep holes! We then inserted the posts and made sure they were secure and level using a mell, a very daunting looking tool!
It was a fantastic day and it was very enjoyable seeing the building of the platform. The cold wintry weather made it even better I cannot wait to see when it’s finished as the views at the site are spectacular!
