Himalayan Balsam with Midweek Group 3rd – 13th July 2012
So, we’ve two weeks of Balsam to catch up on here on the blog! The never-ending task of the himalayan balsam has still not dampened our volunteers spirits and they are as enthusiastic as ever! The week of the 3rd saw the group working at Kiltearn, just south of Evanton on the banks of the Cromarty Firth. Cracking weather and a lovely site saw enthusiasm grow and the finding of giant balsams caused much excitement!

The last two weeks also saw a visit from VO Miren, who is currently at the Stirling office. It was great to have her up visiting and hopefully she enjoyed her stay with us, and may return for another visit at the end of the year, which would be fab 🙂
Pretty sure there are many captions for these photos!!!
As you can see the giant HB’s are a hit with the camera!
It’s not all work though, we do have tea breaks! We’d love to be able to take responsibility for the weather and location…
… but unfortunately we can’t. The week beginning the 9th was not going to be as nice to us, with Tuesday bringing the rain. Working in a ditch, in the rain, with water that at times came over the wellies meant we were all a little wet by the end of the day.
The ditch itself is full of warm water due to it being the run-off from the Teaninich Distillery, which is oddly strange on the feet! Rest assured by the end of the week we were mostly in waders!!
More pictures can be found on our Flickr Page and no doubt another Himalayan Balsam post will be upcoming!
