As part of the Scotland Counts project TCV is always looking for great ways for people to get involved with Citizen Science. In particular it is a great way to engage children with science, their natural environment and the great outdoors. Therefore our community scientist Amy Styles and Citizen Science Coordinator Stevie Jarron have been promoting the RSPB’s Big Schools Birdwatch to the schools we work with and we are keen to make sure as many schools as possible get involved.
The Big Schools Birdwatch is up and running NOW and runs until 13 February 2015 – it takes just an hour and works across a wide age and ability range. It could be used as part of project work, or as part of work to improve your school grounds. At the same time you’ll be providing the RSPB with vital data, and improving your school as a home for nature.
For full details of the Big Schools Birdwatch see the RSPB website.
Feeling jealous that you are not at school and can’t take part!? Don’t worry, the RSPB’s Big Garden Birdwatch is happening on the 24th and 25th Jan. We’ll be getting our staff and volunteers involved and it needs everyone to help out.
