There has been a number of sightings reported recently within the Auchincruive Estate of what has been described as ‘an enthusiastic bunch of hardy manuals.’ It transpires that the ‘bunch’ in question are none other than the all singing, all dancing, all wet and muddy Duke of Edinburgh students from Prestwick Academy. With energy in abundance these pupils are only too happy to swap jotters for loppers. Over the next few weeks they will take control and manage two designated green spaces in the grounds of Auchincruive. It is hoped that by the end of their project they will have combined efforts and created wildlife garden areas that they can be proud of. The photograph above shows the students taking a well deserved break from a spot of invasive species management.
