“Fareweel tae Cambo an’ Kingsbarns an’ a’
We’ve had a guid time but must noo gang awa’
We hope ye’ll enjoy the woods noo we’re gone
Led by Sandy and Tony it’s anither joab well done.”
Our last day at Cambo was a little emotional – the completion of a year’s work and the breaking up of the volunteer group – although we hope we’ll meet again soon. We were joined by pupils from Kingsbarns Primary School who christened the woods as a play area – collecting interesting samples of forest material in egg boxes. Meanwhile, litter was picked, Ivy grubbed out, wildlife habitats completed, and the final loads of woodchips laid out on the paths.
Cake and home-baked shortbread was heartily consumed, courtesy of our wonderful volunteers and Lady Catherine of Cambo Estate. A huge amount of work has gone into this project and the local community have plans to develop it further as an accessible and wildlife friendly area for all. We would like to thank everyone who has given their time, energy and enthusiasm over the year.
