This week We spent another two days in Jubilee park (Craigmillar)
And by the end of our two days we achieved a goodly path scrape. Meaning we are getting rid of any weeds and muck sneaking it’s way onto the path. It’s quite a long and tiring job if it’s not been tended to in a while, Though the final result is more than noticeable and has a great finish. We also beat back the bushes and shrubs to ensure it’s not getting to overgrown and not encroaching onto the path and generally makes the place look a bit more welcoming and open to the eye. Our main task was Crown-lifting various trees. This involves cutting away branches that are below head height, this was done to open up the woodland so people walking along the path will feel more able to go into the woods and explore. Crown lifting also ensures that the trees grow in the “classic tree shape” and don’t turn into big shrubs or multi-stemmed trees. The paths are looking great at the moment, They are so much brighter and looking a lot more inviting to walk down than before. Thanks to our mid-week group.
