We started off on a good day all be it a tad breezy up on the hill though the wind never stops our team!
our job was to set up a ‘Bird’s Mouth Fence’ in the car park to prevent drivers from parking on the grass and also to prevent walkers from making a short-cut through a section in the hedge.
So we started off by working out where we wanted the fence to go via a long piece of string. Once we were happy with the line we dug holes for the supports and very patiently making sure they were all aligned and at the same height. The last thing you want is a fence that zig-zags left to right or ascends and descends at the same time. after a lot of chin stroking and people scratching their heads it was time to put the rail on even more tweaking, pulling and pushing was needed the the fence slowly went up section by section and was nicely held together by metal straps an nailed in place.
The final task to do was to postcrete it all in place and as sceptical as many of us were. But it went in and it looked FANTASTIC !
