TUESDAY 9TH AUGUST
Tuesday saw work continuing at Granton Primary School under Rob’s direction……
WEDNESDAY 10TH AUGUST
Wednesday saw grey rain being thrown down at our quiet crew for most for the day, turning the usually ruddy exterior of Granton primary into a grim-faced seventies style concrete wasteland. Nevertheless work carried on regardless and we topped up the raised beds with some fresh soil, while Chris and Alan assembled the framework for the bark-chipped area in the shelter of the school entrance-hall. The generator was brought out into the playground and placed under a tarpaulin where it could throb and hum without getting soaked by the now constant downpour. Most of the team went for a litter-picking wander in the lush biodiverse woodland gardens of the school and managed to stay dry under the canopy while Alan Chris and I got steadily wetter as we drilled in the framework to the asphalt surface of the playground. After lunch Rachel and her merry band helped transport bark chips over to where we were working and by the time three o’clock came the framework was installed and looking rather professional and the bark chips were in position for the thursday group to spread out.
THURSDAY 11TH AUGUST
It rained and rained and rained and rained and rained, all day and all night. The heavens were weeping tears of sorrow as the mighty green-jacketed Rob Jones was quitting BTCV for a paid position elsewhere, although apparently he will be coming back occasionally as an ex-VO to throw lots of useful and constructive comments at us. And Fiona did some aerobics today too…….
