Last week was the first sunny week in Edinburgh for a long time. It was also the first week that felt properly spring like this year.
Tuesday was a fantastic day at Inverleith park. We were working in the sundial garden most of the day digging out weeds from the plant beds. For the first hour, some of the volunteers were clearing material left by the previous group. The group spent lunchtime lounging on the lawn before more we were back removing weeds from the path and the beds. It was great to see such a happy and relaxed group of volunteers as there was in the afternoon.
Wendnesday started off where Tuesday left off apart from there was a little more cloud that morning. The volunteers were really working hard and soon we had a good pile of bags of weeds by the gate for the parks team to collect. The sun came out at lunchtime. By the end of the day the whole of one side of the garden had been cleared of weeds which was a very impressive sight.
Thursday we were at Granton Crescent Park in what could only be described as great weather. The day was mainly spent litter picking and path scraping.
