On Tuesday we were at the Linwood Community Gardens where to our dismay we discovered the vandals had got in and damaged the bottle greenhouse. We promptly got to work after an attempted warm up which I conducted. I thought it went well until I forgot what I was doing half way through. After the warm up we got to work on planting bulbs in the flowers beds and tidying up the leaves. After tea we went to collect some wood for Wednesday’s wildlife tower project.
On Wednesday we were at Hillview Nursery School where we would be constructing the wildlife tower. It had been raining all day but as soon as we stepped out o the van it suddenly stopped and the clouds parted exposing the sun. It was CSV Make a Difference day so to the delight of our Wednesday volunteers they all got a t-shirt with it emblazoned on it and they also had to get pictures taking wearing the t-shirts.
After the photo was taken we got back to work building the wildlife tower the end result was fantastic but needed a final finishing touch which was done by the children of Hillview Nursery School.
Thursday we went up to Windyhills in Johnstone and unfortunately Julie had to be in Inverclyde to fill in at that group so it was down to myself and John who we’d drafted in from Glasgow.
It was a cold and wet day but we still managed to get some views from the summit of Windyhills but we were all frozen by the time we got there. I still think we all enjoyed ourselves mind you as we all know it’s impossible not to enjoy a Green Gym outing.
Thanks to all the volunteers for their help this week.
Kerr.
