Its off to work we went and what a lot of effort we put into it as well. Well done to everybody that turned out, especially on Tuesday considering the amount of rain that we had. The Linwood woodland offered us no protection from the elements, so we all got soaked, but that didnt seem to bother any of us as we were all too busy removing the felled trees and making habitat piles.
On another note the Glenburn Community Growing Grounds are starting to come along nicely, but alas as its nesting season we can’t remove any more trees. So its definetly time to turn over the soil and get some of those roots removed. Roots, roots, everywhere!! We spent two days at the site this week, but all the volunteers put their backs into it and we managed to get two test plots ready for planting. At least now we can get an idea of what type of soil we have, and think about what might grow there. There is still a long way to go but it’s a nice place to spend an afternoon.
Again a really big thank you to all who turned out, the countryside appreciates it.
