A new VO joined our ranks a couple of weeks ago and the circle of volunteer life continues.
Ben Johnston, an interior designer who fancied a bit of a career change phoned up to see about coming out only for Sonia, our French VO, to confuse him by saying “Yes I know who you are Ben”.
Eventually she believed him that it wasn’t Ben Johnston who had been volunteering with us recently but it was a new one. He didn’t let that put him off and he came out for a few trial sessions before deciding to accept the title as a official shiny new VO.
Other than welcoming Ben things have carried on pretty much as expected. I’m sure in time he’ll carry on the blogging for us all here in the office.
I have a few things to look forward to in the coming weeks. On the BTCV side of things there are some courses, the release of the apprentice scheme which is a brilliant opportunity for people like me to develop their skills. Sadly I’m missing out on another of John McFarlane’s butterfly courses this weekend coming as I’m off to T in the Park instead. No doubt it’ll rain all weekend and I’ll come back wishing I’d gone butterfly hunting.
All in all the last few weeks have gone as expected. We’re currently tidying up those loose ends.
I do have to say a big thank you to my Project Scotland mentor Denise for forwarding this blog to the people at Project Scotland and to everyone at the office here for putting me forward for Project Scotland’s Volunteer of the Year.
