Recently, the delivery of the Health for Life programme to cohort two schools’ came to an end. So as we rewarded schools on completion of their academic year in 2014, we thought it only appropriate to repeat the process.
On Wednesday 8 July, we celebrated in style by holding our schools’ end of year Health for Life Horticultural Show at Lordswood Girls’ School.
The show was open to all primary and secondary schools who have been involved in the programme since 2013. Categories consisted of: mini eco designs, home-made preserves, five of your best, longest/heaviest, making a variety box, the most unusual container to grow food in and something grown on your own.
We had a great afternoon with the smoothie bike’s wheels on fire and TCV were on hand to help students take home plug plants of chard or cabbage. There was numerous awards given out to a vast array of participant schools and the feedback was really positive. Some of the comments from students include, “Can we do this again next year? We’ve won XX awards. I want to continue with the school garden next year”.
TCV says, “Keep up the good work guys!”
